At Gulf British Academy, we offer a range of extracurricular and curriculum-based enrichment activities. These enable pupils to develop new skills and interests or enhance their existing ones in a fun and enjoyable environment. They can also provide an opportunity for pupils – and parents in some cases – to mix socially between year groups and to work together cooperatively (if applicable to the activity).
We believe these activities help children to become independent, confident and successful members of the community now and in adult life.
Information and timings for these enrichment activities will be available from teachers, and can usually be found via our social media channels and events calendar closer to the time.
Extracurricular and curricular-based enrichment activities fall under three main areas:
School/Field trips
Throughout the school year, pupils at each year level enjoy field trips arranged for them.
The trips are often linked to our curriculum with occasional extracurricular trips added to the schedules. Places of local interest in Kuwait are visited – these range from historical buildings to museums and parks.
The emergency services are always willing to share with children how they serve the community as are supermarkets, food chains and shopping malls.
Field trips are an important addition to the curriculum, enhancing the children’s learning and making them aware of their environment and community in which they live. They also increase awareness of the history and development of Kuwait.
After-school clubs
We offer a wide variety of after-school clubs for our pupils.
Children thoroughly enjoy participating in sporting activities (especially Football), Cookery, French, Art and Crafts, Music, Dance (especially Zumba), Drama, and ICT.
The clubs are open to all primary pupils and run for one hour after school, three or four days per week.
Events
Pupils participate in several events during the school year. This include Sports Days, Spelling Bees, Year Group Productions, Dress-up days, Book weeks, Science and Maths fairs, topic-based assemblies, various competitions, guest speakers and special days relating to the national calendar.
