Like last year, Year 2‘s first trip of the year was to Make Meaning – an activity and creativity centre based in 360 Mall.
The aim of the trip was not only to have some creative fun but also to enrich learning, especially in relation to the ‘Materials’ topic in our Year 2 Science curriculum.
As you can see from the gallery, our pupils had great fun making cupcake-shaped soap – they learnt about glycerin (glycerol) – a core component of soap – and eagerly watched as the hot “melt and pour” liquid soap was added to their creations and then left to cool down into a solid.
The day included time for some dancing, too, and Year 2 didn’t let us down. Our pupils and teachers really expressed themselves with their awesome dance moves!
To end the day, small gifts were awarded to the children who did really well, but we were so proud of everyone and each child was able to take their cupcake soap creations back to class.
