Today, the whole of Reception boarded our buses on their way to spend the morning at The Scientific Center, specifically the Aquarium!
As part of the specific learning area, Understanding the World, all pupils embarked on a journey through the Aquarium’s three zones: The Desert, the Coastal Edge, and the Sea.
Wide-eyed pupils began their tour by exploring the fossil record, with a variety of cephalopods (ammonites and belemnites) as well as trilobites all on display.
They continued through the zones and saw a whole range of animals from bats, snakes and other reptiles to a fenec fox, owls and even scorpions and beetles. The caracal was being rather shy, though, but the penguins, otter and jerboas were out in force.
Last of all was the sea life. Various corals, coastal fish, rays, turtles and even sharks were just some of the wonderful creatures that were found in the aquariums – the children loved it, asking their teachers very inquisitive questions throughout the day!
