Last week, pupils from Year 2 embarked on a round-the-world trip with their production Captain Toby’s World Adventure. The story sees Captain Toby taking animals back to their home countries on his world tour with the ship the Sea Shanty.
On board his ship, he is carrying a mysterious animal that doesn’t appear to have a home. That is, until the ship is blown off course by a raging storm and ends up in Peru. The Captain and crew are pleased to discover that the mysterious animal is in fact a kinkajou (native to the rainforests of Peru and other Central and Southern American countries).
This story links with Year 2’s curriculum topic of OUR WORLD and teaches pupils about geography, animals and our school value of empathy. We always try to encourage cross-curricular links within our learning in order to deepen children’s understanding of the world around them. – Mr Kane Gorman, Head of KS1.
The production was a huge success with staff, parents and children and was definitely worth the hours of practice. We would like to thank all of those involved in making this a show to remember. We are very much looking forward to our future productions in March involving Year 3 and Year 1.
