The beginning of Term 2 has been a roaring success in the KG department with their new unit “Animal Kingdom”. Pupils have been learning about different animals, including what they look like, their habitats and what they eat.
To augment their learning on the topic, Pre-KG and KG visited the zoo last week.
Needless to say, our pupils were very excited about all the different animals they would see. During their visit they had the opportunity to touch, feed and hold some of the animals. The children got a real firsthand experience of some of the animals they had been learning about in school.
They were very keen to share their experiences, too, on their return to school. Some of their comments included the following:
“We saw lots of animals.”
“I had a snake around my neck!”
“The crocodile didn’t move.”
“The snake was very long.”
“Some of the animals didn’t smell nice.”
All in all, it was a huge success and the children returned to school with a nice mask as a memory of their trip to the zoo.
