On the week of Chinese New Year, Year 2 celebrated China Day in style as part of their Humanities topic. The children are currently studying and comparing Kuwait and China in Geography, and will move onto the History aspect next term.
All of the Year 2 children and teachers turned up to school on Thursday 3rd February dressed up in Chinese style clothing. They all put a huge effort into the day and everyone looked fantastic!
Throughout the day, the Year 2 corridor was full of excitement. Year 2 started the day with a mathematical ‘crack the code’ challenge with Chinese numbers, followed by learning the Chinese alphabet so they were able to write their name. Then we got arts and crafty when making Chinese hats and decorating them with Chinese writing and styled themes. A happy new year dance was also enjoyed, alongside Tai Chi. Year 2’s hands got dirty when they modelled clay into the shape of a dragon.
Year 2-6 decorated the Quad with beautiful Chinese paintings, culminating in a Chinese New Year enjoyed by all!
