Today was the final day that saw all classes from Year 2 complete their amazing productions of Ballooning Around the World in front of their parents.
Dressed up in superb costumes, the musical follows Colin the Cook as he balloons around the world exploring different foods and special recipes to be found in the following countries: Scotland, Russia, Spain, Egypt and Jamaica.
Combining song, dance, narration and poems it was a real cultural extravaganza that fitted in with the Our World curriculum topic and highlighted the cultural differences, national costumes, musical characteristics and dance styles of each of the countries.

The productions also tied together many cross-curricular topics and gave teachers the educational platform to develop:
Speaking, listening, reading and writing.
Mathematics when calculating the number of balloon trips and the distance and journey times between each of the countries.
Science: how does a hot air balloon work?
Art and creativity skills when preparing and decorating the stage and producing the costumes.
Productions are also great for boosting every child’s self-confidence and we think that was clearly on show for the audience who thoroughly enjoyed every minute of each performance.
Well done Year 2 and a big thank you for all the hard work and many hours of practice that you and your teachers and assistants have put in. Parents too! Thank you for supporting your child and making the time to attend.
