Welcome to our Little Chefs Kitchen!
On today’s menu:
- fresh sandwiches,
- fresh, healthy fillings and
- fresh fruit salad.
Over the course of this week-long activity, pupils from Pre-KG and KG have been donning their aprons and hats, and heading into the kitchen (our school hall) to learn how to prepare a variety of sandwiches as well as fruit salads – all in the company of their parents!
Each session began with a song, before the children sat down with their parents – which was lovely to see as the smiles truly shone as they prepared the menu of the day in the company of mum and some dads too!
Note: more photos will have been shared with you
Amazing healthy sandwiches were made by all. Cucumber, cheese, tomatoes and olives were popular choices. Brown bread became a favourite choice often topped with egg.
We believe this experience will build their self-confidence and lay the foundation for healthy eating habits. It will also help enhance skills such as basic maths (counting, portions, quantities), manual dexterity, team working, oral communication and following directions.
Plus they got to eat and share their sandwiches and all agreed they were very tasty! The fresh fruit was sumptuous, bananas and oranges were a popular choice in addition to kiwi, melon, strawberries and grapes.
Afterwards, each child was awarded with a certificate and a decorated kitchen utensil for their efforts.
Congratulations to our little chefs. What a lovely experience for parents to interact with their children in what proved to be a busy and enjoyable fun activity.
