Monday 16 October was a day to remember for all 114 six-year-olds from Year 1 who visited the Flex Family gym, part of the FlexQ8 group.
It’s a well organised activity centre with a range of facilities that enabled our pupils to develop their physical skills while playing and having fun in a supportive environment. The staff were well-trained and informative as well as attentive to the wellbeing and safety of the children.
This trip was chosen as a link to Year 1’s Science curriculum topic – The Human Body.
The scheduled activities were a lot of fun with a healthy twist. They were all related to physical fitness and to the building of stamina. The children were really enthusiastic in their participation and lived every moment that they spent in each activity.
The activities were based on aerobics, an obstacle course, rock climbing and even taekwondo, all amazingly sporty as well as a fun way to flex their muscles!
Our staff also provided the children with creative opportunities for play and allowed them to develop these physical skills as well as provide them with the opportunity to explore and learn more about the world around them.
Exhausted, yet glowing with contentment and happiness, Year 1 returned back to the school with the understanding that the day’s activities were beneficial to them in leading a healthy and eventful daily routine.
Physical exercise not only leads to a healthier body but also enhances cognitive performance, which is why GBA promotes physical fitness alongside academic learning.
